What is a Speaking Engagement Rate and what does it have to do with your mailing list?
It’s pretty much impossible to grow a business online without a mailing list.
There are numerous informational items online about mailing lists and email open rates. While it’s important to know about email open rates and monitoring them; we also need to focus on the importance of growing an email list.
During a meeting with a client last week I inquired about a recent speaking event and the success of it. The client who sounded a bit deflated, stated it was ‘ok’ and that she was hoping for a larger audience. But she said she received some interest in her free offer. When I asked about how many people signed up and how many people there were in total I explained that she had a great – what I refer to as – Speaking Engagement Rate.
The definitions for speaking engagement rates online are about speaking fees which to me doesn’t make any sense but MY definition of a Speaking Engagement Rate is the percentage of engaged audience members that optin to your mailing list compared to the total attendees. Your mailing list is your direct connection to your target market and speaking is a great way to grow it.
Now there’s no official stats on my definition of a Speaking Engagement Rate but I think 40% is rather amazing!
