What does that mean – Optimize your Lead Magnets?
When you create a lead magnet that is useful and valuable to your readers, it’s a powerful thing for building your mailing list. But that free item, no matter what it is (ebook, report, infographic etc), needs to have a power boost – so-to-speak. It needs to be optimized to show where it came from, who created it and be an engaging connection point between you and the reader. It should NOT be a dead-end road.
If your lead magnet is just a plain pdf of just text and nothing else, it falls short. It doesn’t encourage the reader to take further action with you nor does it have any visual value. Show your readers that you care about your free offer. Make it useful and valuable AND appealing, effective and engaging.
Your lead magnet should have most of the following items, if not all of them:
- Lead magnet image
You need an image to visually represent your product and to market it online.
Your logo is as important as the lead magnet’s image. It is your visual representation of your business.
- Contact info
- Introduction or personal note from you highlighting the benefits of the free offer to remind the reader why they need it. An intro also gives the product a bit of human touch – little bit of YOU. By doing this, it helps the reader know that the product you gave to them means something to you as well.
- Link to your website
- Call-to-action will help foster the relationship that you’re trying to grow with your reader.
- Bio about you and your services also helps give a personal touch to the free offer but also reminds the reader how your services can help them.
- Your profile picture is as important as your logo. It puts a face to the business.
Bonus Tip: If your freebie is a report, list or an ebook, utilize your header and footer space on the document to show your logo, contact info and bio to ensure it’s shown on every page.
Bonus Tip 2: If your lead magnet is an ebook make sure the image is an angled book cover image not a flat image. A flat image will not represent it properly or show that it’s an actual ebook.
