Yes, I said the Thank You page.
You’re probably wondering why you would worry about growth tactics on the thank you page as it’s commonly considered to be the end of the optin journey for your subscribers.
Well, think again because even this page on your website can be transformed to help grow your subscriber list!
Often times, people see the “thank you for opting in” message at the top of the page and click the X to close out the page. Well, what if you saw something else that caught your eye? You likely would not be so quick to close it out.
Here are 3 Powerful List Growth Tactics that you can use on your Thank you page.
- Do your email subscriptions get lost in Gmail?
Gmail sorts your email into 3 categories – Primary, Social and Promotions. Gmail email account make up roughly 50% of all email addresses today. Email subscriptions like newsletters, are usually placed in the Promotions tab where most Gmail users miss their emails. They don’t even know your email came in unless the happen to see a notification on their phone when it comes in.
To increase your open rate on your emails, provide your subscribers with instructions on how to move these emails into the Primary tab where it will appear when they login to their Gmail account.

- Ask for a Social Media connection.
One of my favourite social media tips is to use every space available in your business (online and printed items) items to ask for new social media followers. The thank you page is no exception.
Ask for a social network follow and be sure to place the image of your social platforms and the insert the corresponding link to them. And while you’re at it, ask your new subscriber to join your Facebook Group (if you have one). Asking them to join your group is way more effective than asking them to like your Facebook Page. The engagement rate on Pages is less than 3%. You’ll get way more action in a Group.
- Find out what else your subscribers want to know.
By providing a survey (that comes with a bonus free offer as a thank you for filling out the survey) on your thank you page, you can dig deeper into what else your subscribers need to know and what else they are struggling with. This gives you an opportunity to see what other content (blogs, products, videos, podcasts etc.) you could create that your subscribers need – paid and free.
Bonus Tip:
List your most popular blogs
By listing your most visited blogs, you’re offering more relevant information to your mailing list that they will find useful. It builds more trust and enriches the relationship that your nurturing with them.
